Ever watched one of those "world's worst driver" shows on either Fox or The Learning Channel? Ever notice how most of the footage is from England? That's because England has 1.5 million surveillance cameras watching every nook and cranny of every urban area. Now that they have you under constant surveillance, England is looking to get all of your DNA as well. There is a story on Slashdot about it, however the comments are more interesting. They appear to come from all over the world, Australia is doing this, UK has done it and no one is happy about it, however the most interesting thing is the fact that the US is playing catch up. Did you know that NYC has 2,300 cameras? If you read through the articles to which they've linked, you'll see even small towns have pervasive cameras.
Sometimes I think I should just move to somewhere deep in the forest and live life without all of these stupid rules.
